What is the astaxanthin content of your Sockeye Salmon Oil?
Our Sockeye Salmon Oil contains about 12 parts per million or 12 micrograms (mcg) of astaxanthin per 1,000 mg capsule. It also contains zeaxanthin and multiple other unidentified carotenoids.
Astaxanthin displays potent antioxidant properties in the test tube that sometimes far exceed the free radical scavenging power of vitamin E.
However, the antiinflammatory effects it appears to exert in people and animals would more likely stem from indirect, "nutrigenomic" influences on expression of genes related to the body's own antioxidant network, and inflammation regulation.
