Episode 1: Wild vs. farmed salmon. What's the difference? (8:54)

Salmon are programmed to hatch in a river, swim to the ocean, feed on a rich diet of minerals and micronutrients, and then return to the river in which they were born. Farmed salmon lead an entirely different life, one that threatens not only the migration routes of wild salmon, but our own health. Find out more in this enlightening podcast.

A note from Randy about Episode 1:

Listeners will hear me inadvertently agreeing with my interviewer's misstatement that wild salmon have more omega-3s than farmed salmon. Because of their unnatural diets, most farmed salmon contain substantially more calories, total fat, saturated fat, and highly unsaturated (omega-3 and omega-6) fats, versus most wild salmon.

Although they may contain more omega-3s, farmed salmon invariably contain much higher levels of competing omega-6 fats, which most Americans consume to extreme, pro-inflammatory excess, with very unhealthful effects (see the Omega-3/6 Balance page of our website).
