These skinless-boneless Sockeye portions will vary in size but average about 5 oz each. They're individually vacuum-sealed for maximum convenience.
Your 5 lb box will contain approximately 14 individually packaged portions cut from the same premium grade Sockeye as our larger portions. (The guaranteed minimum total weight is 5 lbs.)
About half of these "ends and pieces" will be tail sections, which cook more quickly and are great for those with a smaller appetite.
Sockeye salmon nutrition In addition to ample protein, Alaskan sockeye salmon offers abundant omega-3s, as well as unrivaled levels of vitamin D and astaxanthin (as-tuh-zan-thin) … a carotenoid-class red-orange pigment with rare antioxidant power.
On average, sockeye salmon provides these amounts of nutrients per 6 oz portion:
Omega-3s – About 1,994mg of omega-3 EPA+DHA, or 4 to 8 times more than the minimum daily EPA+DHA intake recommended by most world health authorities (250-500mg)).
Vitamin D3 – About 1,170 IU in the optimal D3 form, which is more than most other fish, and more than any fortified food, approaching the child-to-adult US RDA of 600 IU.
Astaxanthin – About 6.78 mg. This red-orange pigment is a carotenoid-class nutrient with unique health benefits.

Storage Keep frozen. Thaw overnight in refrigerator, or to quick-thaw, place unopened frozen package in cold water for 30 minutes or until salmon is flexible.
Cooking Tips Rinse salmon quickly in cold, clean water and pat dry. Add our Salmon Marinade, or the seasonings of your choice, to a little olive oil to marinate. Or simply mist salmon lightly with olive oil or macadamia nut oil and dust with seasonings before cooking.
Cook in a medium-hot lightly oiled pan, under a broiler, or on the grill for 7-8 minutes, until only the center remains translucent.
Remove fish from heat and let it “self-cook” another two to three minutes before serving. Above all, beware of overcooking your salmon!
NOTE: It is perfectly safe and healthful to serve Vital Choice salmon raw or partly cooked because our wild-caught, flash-freezing process has rendered it 100% sushi-safe.
Enliven your salmon entree with an antioxidant-rich seasoning like Vital Choice Organic Salmon Marinade Mix, or other herb-spice blends.
