It’s not as though I didn’t know that Andrew Weil, M.D. loves wild salmon. I’ve heard him praise it on many occasions, and joined him in savorng a surfeit of it during our boat tour of southeast Alaska in August of 2004 (as in the picture at left).
But it was funny to read how his penchant for wild salmon was furtively probed—and publicly proven—by a nosy journalist.
The October 20, 2005 edition of the New York Times featured reporter Joyce Wadler’s visit to Dr. Weil’s ranch in Vail, Arizona. She went there to speak with him about his new book, Healthy Aging, which, as of today, ranks number three on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list.
