We only purchase almonds from the most recent harvest season, and use thick, re-sealable pouches to maintain freshness.

Recent research on almonds indicates that these tasty whole foods can really help promote optimal health:

A study from California’s Loma Linda University showed that when people ate a
Raw versus Roasted
There's little nutritional distinction between our raw and roasted-salted nuts. The major difference is sodium content, with the roasted-salted nuts containing 90-95 mg per 1/4 cup servings, versus 0-3 mg in the raw nuts. (See Nutrition Info, below.)

We offer both to accommodate personal preferences. many prefer roasted nuts for snacking, and raw nuts in cereal or yogurt and with berries or other fresh foods. It's up to you!
quarter of a cup of almonds daily for one year the nutrient profiles of their diets shifted automatically toward the healthful patterns that help prevent cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other degenerative conditions (Jaceldo-Siegl K et al 2004). Overweight and obese adults who ate an almond-enriched, low-calorie diet for six months lost more pounds than those who ate a calorie-equivalent diet high in whole grains or other complex carbohydrates (Wien MA et al 2003).

Protein Power
Almonds provide more protein than the typical egg (6 gm per one-ounce serving, versus 5.5 grams per egg).

Heart Health
Almonds are high in oleic acid--the same heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids found in olive oil--and in magnesium, which eases blood flow and reduces the risk of heart attacks and free radical damage following a heart attack. And almond skins are very rich in potent antioxidant flavonoids, including some of the catechin-class polyphenols found in green tea and chocolate. These flavonoids team up with the vitamin E in their meat to more than double the antioxidant protection either confers on human LDL cholesterol when consumed separately (Chen CY et al 2005).

Cellular Energy
Almonds are unusually good sources of three micronutrients essential to energy production: manganese, copper, and vitamin B2.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place and use within one month.
For maximum life, refrigerate Vital Choice Nuts in their original zip-seal bags, where they will keep for about six months, or in the freezer, where they will keep for about one year.

Serving tips
Organic Nuts provide super-healthful snacks and makings for your own custom trail mix.
